Structural Timber Magazine Spring 2022 Vox Pop

In Structural Timber Magazine’s Spring 2022 issue, Pete Blunt, Innovare’s Managing Director, along with fellow industry insiders, explores his views on current issues affecting the timber construction sector.

When asked, ‘Decarbonisation of the built environment and creating a more integrated circular economy is vital – how well do you feel that the timber industry is making this happen?’ Pete said:

Timber is the most natural and sustainable of all main-stream modern construction materials and should be synonymous with the construction industry’s answer to deliver a Net Zero Carbon built environment. The industry needs to provide more data so that timber is proven as the low carbon material of choice. Designers and engineers need quantitative information to evidence how timber will decarbonise their client’s buildings in both operation and whole life. To support a more integrated circular economy the industry needs to articulate and promote the sustainable timber life cycle and how there are opportunities to promote recycling and re-purposing of timber used in the built environment.

You can find the rest of Pete’s Q&A on Page 26.
